Of late, a weird thing has been happening.
Yesterday I went shopping with a friend and his wife. I bought a shirt. They literally went and bought the same shirt without even acknowledging it.
Another friend sent me a text - "hey, my flights are expensive, find cheap ones for me". Why would she assume I would do that? That's after she's already taken my idea of the vacation to Japan, then asked me for the itinerary, which I politely declined to provide.
People have been piggy-backing my research and goodwill for so long now, they feel they are entitled to it. They don't think of it as a favor, they think I'm their assistant.
I wonder how I ended up in this dynamic.
I don't like it and I'd like it to stop without severing my relationships with these people.
